A Sustainability Promise Worth Repeating
COP26 was the perfect platform to remind everyone that sustainability is good for business and good for the world.
The Challenge
COP26 was a pivotal moment in the global climate conversation—one aimed at securing bold commitments to keep global warming below 1.5°C and to accelerate a just transition for economies worldwide. As an official event partner, Accenture needed to show up not just as a supporter of sustainability, but as a key enabler of it—demonstrating how business, technology, and purpose can align to tackle the world’s greatest challenge. Accenture’s presence had to be consistent, clear, and deeply resonant across every touchpoint, from executive panels to venue signage. And the messaging had to reflect not just what Accenture does—but why it matters. I was tasked to create the style and messaging guide for Accenture’s Sustainability Promise and to use that guide in developing Accenture’s presence at COP26.
The Concept
At the heart of our messaging was Accenture’s Sustainability Value Promise—a commitment to helping clients embed sustainability into everything they do and to harness technology and innovation for positive impact. I led the effort to turn this promise into a clear, repeatable, and elevated messaging framework that could guide content creation, design and brand expression across the global COP26 stage.
The Style Guide
I created a comprehensive style and messaging guide that defined:
• The core pillars of Accenture’s sustainability commitments
• Tone and voice guidance to balance urgency with optimism
• A collection of approved, on-brand messaging
• Visual direction that aligned with Accenture’s brand standards
Event Signage
Using the style guide, we produced a substantial amount of signage used across the event space, including:
• Informational placards
• Wayfinding signage throughout exhibition areas
• Digital screens teeing up events
• Outdoor advertising that positioned Accenture as the how behind the why
The Impact
The guide I developed helped unify Accenture’s narrative and solidified their presence as a solutions-oriented leader in climate action.
• Accenture was recognized as a leading private-sector voice at COP26, demonstrating credibility and action in climate and sustainability transformation.
• The Sustainability Value Promise style guide became the foundation for all future sustainability messaging and enabled seamless execution across dozens of assets, saving time while enhancing brand integrity.
• The cohesive event branding created a strong and enduring impression with clients, partners, and policymakers.
